Every Christian Home should have this Dictionary!

In the Christian Home, the Bible is central, forming the basis of living. It defines the marriage, guides the nurture and growth of the children, and educates every member of the family in the knowledge of God.

In education, the dictionary has an important role in the intellectual growth of the family. Does your dictionary reinforce and verify Bible study for your family, or does it introduce conflicting values and worldly views? More than any other book in the home next to the Bible, the dictionary has an important impact. It is important to have one that has sound definitions.

Our modern dictionaries are slowly changing the meaning of moral life and character.

Marriage:
Modern Dictionary (1980) --- The mutual relation of husband and wife; the institution whereby men and women are joined in a special kind of social and legal dependence for the purpose of founding and maintaining a family.

Webster Dictionary (1828) --- The act of uniting a man and a woman for life; wedlock; the legal union of a man and a woman for life. Marriage is a contract both civil and religious by which the parties engage to live together in mutual affection and fidelity, till death shall separate them. Marriage was instituted by God Himself for the purpose of preventing the promiscuous intercourse of sexes, for promoting domestic felicity, and for securing the maintenance and education of children. "Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled" Hebrews 13.

I use this dictionary continually in word study during sermon preparations. We use it during family devotions also. I would not be without one. I have a CD copy in my computers for quick reference. Using the right dictionary is no small issue in these days of compromise.
